# View and timeline in Gantt Chart Pro
The timeline is the calendar area of Gantt Chart Pro for Microsoft Teams, where each task appears as a bar across dates. Change the view mode to see your plan at the right level of detail, from a single hour to a full year, and move along the timeline to navigate long schedules. Weekends are highlighted so working days stand out.
# Change the view mode
The view mode sets how much time each column represents. Zoom out to a wide scale for planning, and zoom in to a fine scale for execution and reviews.
- 1
In the toolbar, click Settings to open the settings dialog.
- 2
Open the View mode dropdown and choose Hour, Day, Week, Month, or Year.
- 3
Click Validate. The timeline redraws at the scale you picked.
# Move along the timeline
Use the Previous and Next buttons in the toolbar to step the timeline backward and forward, and scroll horizontally to move through the schedule. Keep task names concise so labels stay readable when you zoom out.
# Set working hours and weekends
Match the timeline to how your team actually works, which is especially useful in Hour and Day views.

In the Settings dialog, set the Working hours start and end so day and hour views match your team schedule.
