# Limits
Gantt Chart Pro works in two tiers: a Free plan with everything you need for small projects, and a Premium plan that removes the size limits and unlocks the advanced features. Here's exactly what each plan allows.

Good to know: When you reach a Free limit or select a Premium-only feature, Gantt Chart Pro shows an upgrade prompt instead of blocking you silently.
# What the Free limits mean in practice
- 5 main tasks: Once your chart has 5 top-level tasks, adding a 6th prompts you to upgrade.
- 1 subtask per task: Each task can have a single subtask in the Free plan; Premium removes this cap.
- 3 participants per task: Trying to assign a 4th participant to a task shows the message "Only 3 participants can be added in the free version".
- No colors, milestones, filter, or export: These features are visible but selecting them prompts you to upgrade to Premium.
# Common Questions
# What happens when I hit a limit?
You're shown an upgrade prompt. Your existing data is never lost β you simply can't add beyond the Free cap or use a Premium-only feature until you upgrade.
# Does every teammate need Premium?
No. Only users who need Premium capabilities require a license. Others can keep using the tab within the Free limits.
# Where do I upgrade?
From the Teams-Pro Admin Center, where you can purchase, manage seats, and start a trial.
