# Item Types in KeePass Pro
KeePass Pro lets you store much more than website passwords. When you create a new item, you choose the type that best matches what you want to keep safe. Each type shows only the fields that make sense for it, so you never fill in things you do not need.
# Choose an item type
Pick the right type when you create an item, so your vault stays tidy and each entry shows the correct fields.

Click + New item ➕.

At the top of the form, under Type, select the type that matches what you want to store: Password, Secure Note, Wifi Password, Software License, or Credit Card.

The form updates automatically to show only the fields relevant to the type you picked.

# The five item types
# Password
The standard type for storing login credentials to a website or an application. This is the most complete type and includes the following fields:
- Title (the friendly name shown on the card)
- Folder (where the item is stored)
- Login (your username or email)
- Password
- URL (the website address)
- Notes
- Expiration (an optional reminder date)
# Secure Note
Use this type to store free-form confidential information that is not a login, such as a recovery phrase, a PIN, security questions, or any private text you want to keep encrypted. It keeps things simple with just:
- Title
- Folder
- Notes (the body of your note, which is required for this type)
- Expiration (optional)
# Wifi Password
Designed to store the credentials of a wireless network so your team can connect quickly. Its dedicated fields are:
- Title
- Folder
- SSID (the network name, shown in place of the Login field)
- Password (the network key)
- Notes
- Expiration (optional)
# Software License
Perfect for keeping track of a software product key or activation code. Its fields are:
- Title
- Folder
- License Key (shown in place of the Login field)
- Notes
- Expiration (handy for tracking when a license needs to be renewed)
# Credit Card
Stores payment card details securely. It offers fields tailored to a bank card:
- Title
- Folder
- Name Of Card (the cardholder name, shown in place of the Login field)
- Card Number
- Security Code (the CVV or CVC on the back of the card)
- Notes
- Expiration (optional)
